Legal Pages Required Before Website Launch
The following pages should be prepared using the business’s actual legal, data and website information. Generic copied policies are not recommended because the content must match how the website and company genuinely operate.
Internal checklist — remove before launch. This page reproduces the requirements set out in the copy master so nothing is missed. It should be replaced by the actual policies, not published as-is.
Privacy Policy
Should identify the legal data controller, contact details, personal data collected, purposes and lawful bases, data sharing, international transfers, retention periods, individual rights, complaint routes and the use of website forms, analytics, email marketing and recruitment data.
Cookie Policy
Complete a cookie audit after the website is built. List the cookies and similar technologies actually used, their provider, purpose and duration. Explain how visitors can accept, reject or change non-essential cookie preferences.
Website Terms and Conditions
Cover website use, copyright, acceptable use, reliance on information, external links, limitation of liability and the law governing the website. Commercial sale, delivery, installation, returns, payment and warranty terms should sit in separate business terms where appropriate.
Accessibility Statement
Explain the steps taken to make the website accessible, any known limitations, how users can request information in another format and how to report an accessibility problem.
Company information in the footer
The footer should display the correct legal company name, company number, registered office, trading name relationship, VAT number where required, contact details and links to all policies.
Recommended
